VISION

The vision of establishing Department of Urdu is to produce competent students with a basic knowledge of the subject. The aim is to nurture students with a potential to innovate, invent and disseminate knowledge for the benefit of society. Moreover, the Department is destined to promote, support and facilitate the development of the subject. The graduated students get equipped with excellent theoretical knowledge and practical skills which fulfils our vision to promote academic temperament and community service.

MISSION

• To motivate and prepare students for under-Graduate Studies.
• To impart quality education at all levels of teaching i.e. language, literature and cultural studies.
• Besides under-graduate studies in literature we also offer courses like MIL which aim at enhancing the student language.
• To organize seminars, conferences, workshops, symposia, Mushaira & Musical Programmes.
• To conduct visiting lectures for students by eminent Urdu scholars.

Department of Urdu GDC Baramulla is an oldest department which started its functioning in 1963 when the foundation of college was laid down by the then prime minister of J&K Khawaja Ghulam Mohammad Sadiq. Since then the department of Urdu has been rendering its services and playing a vital role for the development and progress of Urdu as a language and literature. The mission and objective of Urdu department is to create an environment of better teaching and learning process involving faculty member and students through monthly departmental seminar and discussions besides classroom teaching. The department is conducting many programs throughout the year which are beneficial for the students and which help and guide them to expose their talent and literary tastes. The Department regularly organizes seminars where both students and teachers interact on the given themes. This experience is becoming very useful to our students and the budding scholars.

Currently Department of Urdu is equipped with a Smart Classroom for teaching and One Staff Room equipped with Computer and broadband facility. The Department has one sanctioned post. The curriculum for the U.G. Programme has been designed with an aim of encouraging the broad instructional goals and to support the growing demands and challenging trends in the educational scenario. It targets at providing an environment that encourages, promotes and stimulates the intellectual, professional and personal development of the student. The curriculum caters to the all-round development of the student, preparing globally ready individuals into the fast pacing world.
